Project Coordinator & Senior Estimator

Responsibilities Include:

  • Read tender packages, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Prepare Material Takeoffs and quotations
  • Manage and co-ordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules
  • Preparing cost estimates on construction projects
  • Conducting a review of the contract documents and specifications.
  • Completing quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials required to complete the project.
  • Preparing cost estimates related to change orders, additional work on existing jobs when required.
  • Estimate preparation for costs of materials, labour, sub-trades, equipment.
  • Maintain and establish positive working relationships with general contractors, consultants and trade partners, and field staff.
  • Attend site meetings and inspections as required
  • Handle change orders and RFI’s during project. Prepare and distribute close-out packages documents.
  • Communicate with office staff, field staff, management, clients, and suppliers, and other tradespersons in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage database and files – both electronic and hard copy
  • Be able to keep a schedule of all upcoming service calls, follow up on them and be able to process all required paperwork

    Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experienced in using computer programs specific to this role (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Projects).
  • Field experience is an asset.
  • Architectural Diploma, estimating certificate or education in related field is preferred.
  • Must be able to use estimation, take-off software.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Estimation/ Quantity Take-off experience, ideally in a similar role within a construction business
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize a heavy workload and manage multiple tasks at a time
  • Strong knowledge of Building code
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required

  • Licensed Electrician

    MDM Contracting is an electrical and general contracting company located in Mississauga, seeking a licensed electrician to grow with the company. Must be able to follow instructions well, be highly motivated, reliable, and able to focus on task at hand and work well independently or as part of a team. We are seeking an individual who has demonstrated talent within the Electrical Industry and is enthusiastic about proving their ability in our dynamic team environment.

    Duties

    • Must be able to work some nights based on project need
    • Minimum Grade 12, with a valid Ontario Electrical Licence or Inter Provincial Licence, or 3 years of apprenticeship.
    • Must have residential and commercial experience and be able to perform the following tasks; installation of outlet boxes, pot lights, measuring, wiring up and connecting plugs, switches, light fixtures, pot lights, stapling, service installs, service upgrades and rewires.
    • Ability to layout, assemble, install, test, maintain, and repair, all types of electrical systems and controls.
    • Capable of conducting heavy physical lifting, frequent prolonged standing/ walking, pushing/pulling, or moving/lifting heavy equipment/supplies, and ladder work.
    • Valid G class driver, with clean driving record.
    • Strong verbal and written language in English.

    Millwork & Cabinet Carpenter

    MDM Wood Industries Inc. is looking for an experienced cabinet maker.
    Requirements & duties will include:

    • Minimum 2 - 3 years of cabinet making and installation experience in Canada
    • In-shop construction and on-site installation experience a must
    • Operating woodworking machines and using hand tools to cut, shape and form wood
    • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and product specifications sheets
    • Assemble cabinets, sand and apply moulding and trims, stain or polish finished products
    • Ability to manufacturing cabinets directly from shop drawings without cut-sheets
    • Organized and strong attention to detail
    • Ability to work well independently and with others
    • Ability to work safely, identify hazards, and follow safety procedures

    Apprentice Electrician

    An apprentice electrician is a helper who is eager to learn the trade. MDM Group Inc. is looking for a

    third year apprentice

    - someone who is organized, mindful, and eager to learn. If this sounds like you, please send us your resume!
    Duties include:

    • Digging trenches for running underground electrical pipe (conduit)
    • Load / unload equipment and material
    • Pull wire and install electrical devices of various sizes
    • Learn how to bend conduit and install it
    • Get material to help the journeyman complete tasks
    • Clean up at the end of the day
    • Good customer service skills
    • Ability to read blueprints and instructions
    • Ability to problem-solve
    • Must posses High school or GED
